Methodology
Every number is computed from the Born On Your Day dataset (built 2026-09-28) with the same functions that produce the date pages and the rankings; nothing is estimated, extrapolated or entered by hand. The index is recomputed whenever the dataset is rebuilt.
Definitions
- Billionaire: a person whose current, dated estimate from Forbes, Bloomberg, the Sunday Times Rich List, Hurun or a regulatory filing has a low bound of at least $1 billion.
- Combined wealth: the sum of the low bound of every current, sourced estimate among the people listed for the date. Ranges never inflate it; people without an estimate add nothing.
- Richest person: the listed person with the largest current, sourced estimate, with the estimate's date.
- Founders: people Wikidata records as founders of a business with meaningful coverage, or whose occupation is entrepreneur. One count per person.
- Notable people: everyone on the public page for the date (quality score 40 or above).
- Ranks: competition ranking across all 366 dates; ties share a rank.
Data sources and limitations
People come from Wikidata with a day-precision birth date; wealth figures come from net-worth statements that cite a Forbes or Bloomberg page with a date, and are labelled as not yet re-verified on the publisher page. Estimates carry their own dates (the ones in this table run from 2005 to September 2026); wealth changes and none of this is live. Coverage is deliberately uneven, so a low value can mean a date we have covered less rather than a date with fewer wealthy people. Read it as “among the people we list”, never as a statement about everyone born on a date. Full methodology.
